Does anybody know were to find the Fiat on the picture for rfactor?? Thank you
Gregchevy on Aug-24-2009

Was particularly interested in this track as it's one of the only rfactor tracks where I've driven on any part of it IRL (admittedly only the Crown Range road at the bottom - the climb up to to summit of the Crown Range would make a good hillclimb track too I bet).

I think the alpine climb is better than the race to the sky one, enjoyed driving it a lot. Nice work though, especially on the terrain - how did you model it so accurately?

New Zealand has a lot of awesome roads, I'm having a go at modelling the lower buller gorge at the moment.

This is an awesome hillclimb, Thank You!

I can't wait for future versions of this, cause the skybox glitching is pretty bad above snow level... not hating at all tho I love this map and I totally understand that it's the limits of the engine and pretty much unavoidable with this tall of a mountain... but I'll bet you could do quite a bit to improve it too.

Please don't get discouraged on further improving this map just because some people are hating. For me (with my core 2 duo 3.6ghz, 2gig ddr2 800, 9800 gtx type rig) on the tarmac 1 layout I only get skybox glitches in 3-6 small spots on the way up until snow level and then it's like I've driven through the skybox or something.

If you need any help bug hunting or anything just let me know, I could make you a youtube vid of all the little spots that need a little terrain here and there on the way up the mountain or something... in fact I might already have the video somewhere since I was screencasting myself playing through your track for a friend last night and I think it automatically records sometimes.

dmz, thanks a lot for your work, you make some outstanding tracks! Just a little advice: please use 6e66o's sky textures in your future releases. there is a big variety of skies, with different conditions etc... Because the sky takes from 40 to 60% of view of track, it has to be beautiful and realistic looking. Shame that many people don't pay some attention to that, starting from original ISI tracks. And that sky pack which you're using looks very unreal to be honest. I've put the textures from 6e66o's pack to your tracks' folders and now i've got completely different impressions of overall track.

Jinks, what are you talking about? How is that constructive?

From the readme above: Known Issue, some skybox issues due to the massive elevation change, terrain will be added to places to avoid that in a future release.

If you have a low end video card you may have troubles with this track. its 31km long which loads up your gpu as it is, and with elevation changes well over 100meters, rfactor does not handle that as you are seeing either below or above the skybox horizon. I will be making changes to the terrain to mask some areas that does it for future releases if I could be bothered but frankly I got better things to do. FYI I only get a sky wipe twice in 2 areas, which lasts 1 second before it clears up which is why I released this track as its not that bad.

The sky still glitches, as well as the track which diseappears at some point...
