KART PREVIEW -- Often described as the most pure form of motor racing, Karts are the ideal entry platform into the world of motorsports. Accessible to everyone with a capable body and mind, they are also one of the few forms of motorsport anyone can experience. Very early in the development of rFactor 2, we planned to bring karting to our product. Some of you may have seen the wallpaper images we released very early showing them. As we finally close in on their release, we thought this might be a nice time to help those unfamiliar with them. The rFactor 2 karts will come in two different flavors at this time, the Junior and Kart F1. Don’t let the names fool you, the junior karts already provide a serious punch, producing 20hp in a vehicle weighing under 150kg (driver included). These represent a very competitive kart that require lightning fast reflexes. The Kart F1 steps this up, producing 40hp and weighing only slightly more. With such power, the front brakes on the ‘F1? are a welcome addition. For those unfamiliar with karting, the first thing you will notice driving one of these is just how quick the steering is. With the steering ratio approximating 1:5 (depending on setup), three times quicker than most conventional road cars, you may fall into the trap of too much steering input. Small and precise movements are best. Karts are also forced to run a locked axle, which means the inside rear tire has to be unloaded to allow the vehicle to steer properly. Significant understeer results if you fail to do so. The primary mechanism for providing a means to overcome this issue is through the front end steering geometry. Cranking the steering is usually accompanied by oversteer. A common mistake of amateurs is both applying lock too early or using excessive steering lock which can result in sudden snap oversteer. Though sometimes that might be exactly what you want!

Marussia-Cosworth MR01 Series: 2012 F1 World Championship Engine Type: Cosworth CA2012 90° V8 Redline: 18,000 Limited Transmission: Xtrac 7-speed File size: 68.5MB Current version: 1.0 – Mar 17, 2013 Driven by veteran Timo Glock and newcomer Charles Pic in 2012, the MR01 helped the team move ahead of HRT and challenge Caterham for 10th-place in the Constructors Championship, eventually losing out in the final race. The first car designed by the team itself after previous seasons using a computer aided design process, the car proved to be reliable, and this gave great benefit when taking the fight to the Caterham-Renault team. Using the lower-powered Cosworth 90° V8 customer engine, the team also went without a Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) for the whole season, and this led some pundits to believe Marussia had the better chassis overall. The car finished in 12th-place in both Singapore and Brazil, and between both drivers only failed to finish six races. The team took 11th-place in the Constructors Championship. http://rfactor.net/web/rf2/rf2dl/marussia-cosworth-mr01/

ISI has released the official v1.0 of the Clio is now available in the downloads thread. http://isiforums.net/f/showthread.php/1396-Downloads The skin template, rim template and window template are also posted. Known issues: - Those of you who installed the accidentally leaked earlier version, will end up with duplicate Clio components, and may need to completely re-install to be rid of them. - Opacity issues on the headlights until the next software update is released (which will update the Clio pace car and fix it). - Possibly other stuff. Instructions for the wheel rim and window templates: Rims - Use the exact same naming as your skin, adding "EXTRA0" to the name. Saving in dds DXT5 format. So for car clio_16.dds, the rims are clio_16EXTRA0.dds. Windows - Use the exact same naming as your skin, adding "WINDOW" to the name. Saving in dds DXT5 format. So for car clio_16.dds, the rims are clio_16WINDOW.dds. Make sure to make a white mask of this text, add it to alpha channel (alpha channel needs to be white where the text is so the text is opaque ingame).
