Announcing the release of the V8Factor 2006 V1.3 Patch. This is an All-in-one patch removing the need for patches v1.1 and v1.2
NOTE: The Bathurst track is updated in this installer from any prior version to v1.3. At this stage there is no separate Bathurst update patch.

V8Factor 2006 (V8F)
Australian V8 Supercars MOD for rFactor
by
ORSM (OCEANIA RACE SIM MODDERS)
http://www.teamorsm.com
Version 1.3 - December 2009
For Derek Hill (Kiwi, Kiwi_NZ)
REQUIRES A FULL INSTALL of V8Factor 2006 (v1.0, v1.1 or v1.2). Patches v1.1 & v1.2 are not required but if already installed should not cause a problem. However, we recommend installing this patch over a fresh v1.0 install.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Installation:
Follow the instructions in the V8Factor Patch Installer. Please make sure you select the correct path to your rFactor installation. Files will be automatically installed.
NOTE: MANUAL INSTALLATIONS REQUIRE AN EXTRA STEP - READ ON. For those who prefer to extract MODs to a temporary folder and then copy the files manually, you will then need to run the batch file called "docpset.bat" located in the V8Factor folder. DO NOT run this before you copy the files across.
NOTE: HI-RES SKIN PACK users. This patch re-installs a number of lo-res skins. Please re-install the hi-res skin pack to restore all hi-res skins.
------------------------------------------------------------------
In this patch:
* Bathurst track fixes & improvements
- Changed to 2 versions - 2005 & 2006 (with new signage)
- Esses cut discourager removed
- Added the Citigate building at the Chase to 2006 version
- A few graphical tweaks
* Physics improvements (thanks to Ben Eggleston and Ric Kemp for V8Supercar data and direct feedback on the physics)
- significant changes to the tyres to provide more realistic grip delivery under different lateral & longitudinal loads.
- significant changes to the front and rear end geometry to improve turn-in, stability and weight transfer.
- other changes include springs, shocks, aero, brakes, and many other tweaks
- NOTE: previous garage setups may cause unexpected handling.
* Damage improvements
- less force required to cause suspension damage, similar to the real cars. Turn down your damage slide if you don't like it to be realistic.
- headlight and taillight glows now deform with the rest of the car.
- more parts bend and break off
* AI fixes & improvements
- changes to AI physics providing improved race behaviour

I live in Canada, I have no local Holden dealer.. =( that is why I have to rely on modders like you! lol. Cheers and thanks again for the great mods.

Your local Holden Dealer? One level up in the carpark? Did you leave the keys in it?
by krunch on 23-Jan-10
Sorry krunch, at least what I told him won't steer him wrong, just a couple unneeded steps
... this seems too friendly for rFC.. so I'll end with the obligatory "Where is my VE!?!?!" lol

Thanks Bleddyn for trying to help but you've got it all wrong. If someone is new to V8Factor they simply install v1.0 then install v1.3 (Patch all-in-1.3) - v1.1 & v1.2 ARE NOT NEEDED!
For those who already have ANY version of V8Factor installed just install "Patch All-in-1.3".
It could not be simpler as far as we are concerned. We weighed up all the options from a full v1.3 download to an incremental patch but each option presented more issues than the option we chose to produce.
We've asked rFactorCentral/Simraceway to remove the un-needed v1.1 & v1.2 links as they are no doubt a source of confusion for some. Unfortunately they've not got around to removing them - lets hope they can do it soon.

@Twest, you need all of the upgrades, Start with 1.0 (top link works), then 1.1 (top link works) then 1.2 (second link works) then 1.3 (top link works). Install them all in order.
An ACTUAL ALL-IN-ONE of 1.3 would be much appreciated and keep confusion down. Even including the phrase "All-in-1" for a patch was a bad idea. It confused lots of ppl.

Hi
I would love to install the full v8 factor including bathurst and the cars, however thier does not appear to be a current link to the full install one says server not found and the other allows me to download a binary file, without trying to sound stupid, could you please inform me which files I need to download to get all the cars because I've already tried a combination of standalone version 1.3 and the patch which also didn't work
by Twest on 20-Jan-10
Sounds like a corrupt download. Try downloading it again from a different link.

When I try to install 1.3, it says "Invalid Data". Help?

Ah well. V8Factor is not for everyone mate. Its a hardcore simulation and does take some mastering. Read the Readme as there are some tips for optimising your controllers in there. Also try driving with traction control and ABS on full to get a feel for the car's weight transfer and balance. Once you've done that for a while ease off on those aides gradually until you've mastered the throttle and brake control. For some people racing with traction control and ABS switched on is a lot of fun and thats simply how they play this mod. Nothing wrong with that either. Finally head on over to our new forums and you'll find a lot of people willing to help out with tips and issues: http://forum.racedepartment.com/team-orsm/

The tires still have NO grip. Just watch some real in-car footage, where drivers push the throttle have way down for a second and then just floor it. With V8 Factor accelerating this way ends in the wall most of the time. So I "mounted" the V8 Factor tires on a touring car (BMW 320si for rfactor) and guess what happened? Ridiculous oversteer and drifting. So there must be s.th. completely wrong with the tires, I can't see/feel any improvements.
