Speedglenn give me a yell mate so we can have a chat again.

Thanks very much hingo mate for the kind words, i just want people to be able to use 1.41 as well , having people say its "A Piece of crap" really is just sad. I never said i owned the original, but someone had to fix it as AI were crashing at turns 1 and turn 2 and it seemed like no one cared about updating it anymore, personally i love this track in real life it has a uniqueness to it like no other. Thanks again and regards.

Unfortunately I think Speedglenn has caught the rough end of the stick on this one. Here are the main reasons why Speedglenn's version should be the official RFC version: 1) First and foremost. The track is originally a conversion from Codemasters' Race Driver 3 game. Since it is largely a straight conversion from RD3, NFR don't really have the right to decide the fate of the track. 2) All good modders should be open to improvements of their tracks, especially when they are closer in accuracy to the real circuit as a result. It appears as though NFR have not tested this track or responded to Speedglenns repeated attempts for permission. In the end Speedglenn did what was right for the community by releasing a superior version. NFR have seemingly blocked the release for no reason. 3) The modding team, NFR, who converted this track are not Australian and therefore cannot accurately represent this track as well as Speedglenn who actually lives in the area. As an Aussie, I can also state for a fact that Speedglenns version is far closer to the real life circuit. 5) Speedglenn has obviously put more effort improving this track than NFR did in converting it in the first place. I think NFR need to swallow their pride and be more co-operative with other rFactor modders who are working to improve tracks. They should be grateful that someone with first hand experience of this circuit has enjoyed their release and wanted to help improve it further. Surfers Paradise is one of the best street circuits in the world and with a couple of tweaks, this track could be one of the best rFactor circuits. When I wanted to update Lakeside and Amaroo, the guys who made those circuits, along with modders like ORSM who let me use some of their textures, were very accommodating and supportive of my changes. NFR could learn a thing or two from people like that.

Gentlemen, (I have faith that you both are), you both have valid points. Speedglenn, your passion for quality and accuracy is much appreciated. Vince, your call for respect for others work, whether it be from scratch or conversion, is indeed needed as a lot of work is put into this. I'm sure Speedglenn can now attest to this as his hopefully spectacular version of S.Paradise is coming along slowly because of the immense data needed as well as time put in by his team who have to juggle their priorities in real life. You both have proven yourselves with your contributions to our community; Speedglenn with your updates and WIP, and Vince with your many inputs to tracks, mods, and the incredible hurculean effort over at RSC you have made over the years. So with much caution and trepidation I say, "please, not in front of the children". We look up to the both of you to strengthen our community; Speedglenn for your impending future release(s) and Vince for your visionary philosophy that you have made into reality so many times. It's not always our ideals that get in the way of change but our approach. I know this valuable lesson myself as I will never throw rocks again in my glass house and hope to be forgiven someday from a 'certain' part of our wonderful community. Peace and unity to all as we move ahead to some very exciting times.

Ever heard of Le Mans 72-79 and Midohio? Vince is a part of VirtuaLM and their 'addons' are some of the best out there. I suggest you to look deeper next time before making a statement like that.

way to get nasty vince.....
by Speedglenn on 15-Mar-09

Is this meant to be some kind of threat ? You are not going to work on that course because of what I might write ? And you think I care ? That is hilarious !
by Vince Klortho on 09-Mar-09

also Vince the last thing i will mention is that those ratings, were different before 1.42 they were lower so i dont think my extra updates to textures and corners are considered "crap" as you say, that's it ive finished bitching about your comment regards to all Speedglenn
by Speedglenn on 06-Mar-09

Vince Klortho you should also clean the wax out of your ear for one FlashQLD and i together HAVE already started another scratch version for everyone who seems to have trouble coming to terms with my few updates. Heres your link buddy please read. Its on hold and if you keep talking to me like that it could be for a while. http://www.rfactorcentral.com/...ID=Gold%20Coast%20Indy FlashQLD already has done a great job at modeling the initial track. I'm trying to get some textures together. Everyone's busy with their lives so who knows when we'll get time to finish it. Regards, Speedglenn (TO RFC STAFF , SORRY TO BE BOLD BUT HE DESERVES IT AFTER THE WAY HE SPOKE TO ME)
