A last hurrah for rFactor!

I've sat on these files for years (last public release was '08?! Sorry!), adamant that v2.0 would be released when we had a complete mod. Unfortunately, due to a lack of sound development it never came to be.

Instead we have this:

New sfx files try to make the best of what's available. Offset exhaust sound sits on the correct side as per the model, wind noise is now greatly increased when running without a windscreen, and the "valve bounce" sound indicating when you're well into the red zone is now more obvious. I like attention to detail.

All of the cars are updated to reflect the changeover from k-series engines to the ford sigma and duratec lumps. Also included is the sequential gearbox (with the actual weight penalty), and a rather extensive options list.

The physics have undergone another overhaul, now with realistically behaving water/oil/brake temps, better lift modelling (including the reduction in front-end lift), and general goodness all around (pop a tyre and your car actually drops).

Finally, the AI should put up a pretty good fight. I've always tried to do the best i could for offline racing, and these guys tend to have good pace and stability across most circuits.

NOTE: To install, first backup your custom skins! Then delete your existing gamedata/vehicles/caterham folder, and extract the v1.99 archive into your base rFactor folder. This will ensure there are no buggy file clashes or leftovers of the previous versions (since file names have changed).

I shall now be moving on to rF2, it promises great things for this little sportscar. Expect a v2.0 sooner rather than later! ;)

!!IMPORTANT!! IF YOU DO NOT HAVE v1.5a INSTALLED!!

v1.99 is NOT a full install and does NOT have a full file structure!! You MUST download and install v1.5 FIRST!! Then follow instructions to install v1.99

It's funny, the things that will keep you from trying a certain Mod. I never tried this Mod because I think Caterham's are ugly cars.

I was looking for something new to try since new Mods for rFactor are few and far between (if at all) anymore. Well I'm glad I finally tried it. What an amazing drive! I love the older cars in Mods because they give more of a feeling of the weight of the car that needs to be controlled to get good laps. This Mod gives that same wonderful feeling of the weight of the car. The back end will pitch out when slightly coaxed but is highly controllable. None of this feeling of "I think the car is starting to pitch out" and then BAM, flipped around with barely any warning.

I don't know if I'd go as far as saying I now like the looks but I sure do LOVE the way it drivers!

Amazing! Amazing! Amazing!

Yes I've seen it but when I select it it shows up as a blue car No.68? I've done this as a fresh install into v1.5 and haven't installed any skins so I don't understand why it's not showing up.

I just did a fresh reinstall and it was there. Not seen a blue 68 anywhere!

I have now got the prisoner car working fine, I'm also still getting the blue #68 car so god knows where that's come from if you haven't got it.....lol

With the 1.5 version the FFB was very good, but now I feel very little effects on my steering wheel. I use the realfeel but it's not sufficient. How to solve this?
That was one of my favorite mod, and it's a shame not to get the most of it (Sorry for my english)

What has happened to the CSR 260, the CSR260.hdv file isn't found anywhere in the installation, even though the .veh-files, skins, upgrades etc. are still there? Is this on purpose or did you accidentally forget to include them in the installation?

The CSR was only ever included in private beta versions. It was dropped because it needed too much remodelling for a release. Dunno why those files remain, but other CSR files are gone as well as HDV.
I might post the missing files somewhere as an unfinished item.

One observation does not appear RPM tachometer needle in the Superlight models, could you tell me if there is any way to fix this?. Thank you very much.

Not sure why this doesn't work. It can be temporarily fixed by opening the veh file with notepad, and changing the cockpit from cat_cockpitinfo to R500_cockpitinfo. Not sure how it affects anything else though!
