re: 1995 CART Season
I love this mod. But the thing that struck me most of all was the damage model. Set off a gigantic mass shunt in an Indy field... and there were wings, suspensions, bodywork... and ENGINES flying everywhere. Gave me a bit of weird pleasure to see the car reduced to just a bare tub. In other words, damage gets 10 out of 5 from me.

The cars drive well when they're well set-up, but they do have a huge amount of power oversteer and turbo lag. Sometimes they feel a bit like the 1981 Ferrari 126C was described. But that makes them challenging.

Great mod, only very very slightly let down by the sounds and the default set-up for the road courses.

re: F1 1985
I agree with the public's opinion; found that the Lotus 97T is the easiest car to get into the groove quickly; tried most of the cars on full tanks with just minor set-up alterations and the Lotus was the most nimble with the full 220 l load.

This means... who knows what would have happened if the 97T was as reliable as today's cars...

Rocketships. You really had to be a man to handle these things.

One little thing: the fuel estimation is rather odd, sometimes showing that I should run out of fuel after, let's say, 80% of the race, and sometimes saying that the fuel would last beyond the end of the race.

Are you also doing the 1.6 or 2.0 cars? Looks like it by the last two screenshots...

The sounds in that video are, as a matter of fact, completely the same as the '88 mod (recognized them by the backfire noises).

Oh... and if you can remove Murray and James's voices from it, there's a fantastic onboard of Johnny Dumfries in Adelaide in '86 with really good sound from throughout the rev range.

re: F1 1985
Sorry for double-commenting, but I would just like to say:

With some fixes, this mod has really awesome potential. And when it's done, with minor tweaks to physics, models and engines, it might easily be derived into 1984, 1986 and 1987 mods.

re: F1 1985
My opinion is that this mod needs completely new sounds. Maybe the 012 Tyrrell can use the GP79 sounds, but with some modifications to the external sound. The turbos, however, need completely new sounds.

Checked out the sfx file and apparently the sound is from the NORMALLY-ASPIRATED Ford V8s from the 1988 mod. I strongly suggest a look at the "Lap of the Gods" DVDs for the real deal; there are several very good onboards of Patrick Tambay and Derek Warwick in the Renault, with some very usable V6 turbo engine sounds. The real problem is for the BMW and Hart 4-cyl turbos and the Alfa Romeo V8 turbo from the Alfa factory team and the Osella, because I don't think there are any onboards of those anywhere around the Internet.

And my final suggestion for the sounds: a better rev-limiter sound with a slightly bigger delay, because, when moving out of the pits or off the line on the rev-limiter, the turbo engines would "pop" and "crack" in terms of sound about 2-3 times per second, a bit like a misfiring machine gun.

re: F1 1985
I still don't think the power values are really accurate. On full boost it feels like the cars are barely as powerful as the ISI '07 BMW. And, already, in '85, they were getting close to 1000bhp on full boost. So I suggest that the power figure currently from full boost should be assigned to level 3 or 4 of 11 on the boost scale. These cars MUST peak 320-325kph with full wings. Currently, they can barely do 305.

I'm talking about power violence on the scale of the Brabham BT52 mod.

Which would include the Tyrrell P34, Williams FW08C, Brabham BT46B, Lotus 56B gas turbine and Williams FW15C CVT?

re: Historic GT & Touring Cars
This mod (if it can be called this way) is properly brilliant. Too bad I can't afford a G25 to experience it fully... Top notch physics, models, car behaviour... and particularly the sounds are crisp and strong.

I only gave a 4/5 for the damage model. Doesn't seem quite right to me. The rest of it is full-mark material...

re: F1 1989
The only 1989 car in JYS' tests is the Williams FW12C, used in 1989 up to Estoril, replaced at that race by the FW13.

re: BMW M1 ProCar 1979-1980
Now this is the real sound of a BMW straight-6 howling in agony. The car is quite a drift machine in slow corners, there's a lot of mid-corner oversteer, but it's pretty controllable. The only thing I noticed is that the car is highly unsettled by tall or wide curbs, which tend to throw it into a spin if you clip them on the apex, or into a long slide if it's out of the corner, which can only be stopped by slamming on the brakes.

Otherwise, quite a nice car to drive. The chassis normally copes with the engine's power delivery.

And congrats on the HOF.

Beautifull mod guys!

THANKS !"

The R10 is included in the Endurance Series mod, as I saw in the car list. There was also talk about eventually including the Peugeot... but about the Lola-Aston Martin, I don't have the faintest idea. I hope klo-che can answer; I'm also excited about more protos coming up...

And this mod is now officially HOF-worthy: a rating of 471/500 from 2003 votes. Congratulations EnduRacers.

re: Epsilon Euskadi
I don't care what some w**kers say about this mod. This is PROPERLY AMAZING!

I guess the people that don't like the physics are the people that can't drive these things and blame the modders for that. If they worked with the actual team and they supplied actual data, what did you expect? Something that is sticking to the track in an unreal mode?

First of all, the sound is fantastic. Mechanical clunking on the gearbox, crackles on the overrun, growls like a V10 should. It gives me those goosebumps when the foot goes down and the Judd GV revs hungrily (virtually).

I personally like the physics. The car feels rather oversteery, especially under braking and from mid-turn onwards, but it's not catastrophic, and it can be caught with the wheel or eradicated with the setup. At some tracks it can struggle with traction out of the corner, but at others it feels very very planted when accelerating out of the turn; for example, at Barcelona, out of the slow Turn 5, in 2nd gear, foot down, it rocketed down the drop towards T6 and rocketed in a very straight and level way. It is rather unruly over tough bumps, however. And it suffers over high kerbs... but maybe also due to heavy right foot disease.

Love the liveries as well.

This car is astonishing. HOF for me.

P.S. I sniff a World Championship with this car in the near future...

re: F1 1985
Just watched a season review from this age (a.k.a. 1984-1986) and I have to confirm to you that at Monza and Hockenheim the cars could run absolutely full wings and still achieve devilishly fast lap times on race pace. So I guess the engines need not more grunt, but a LOT more. Torque is good, horsepower isn't enough.

re: F1 1985
These things should be supposed to hit 325-330kph with full wings. Tried full boost and full revs with full wings and the cars couldn't go over 300. That's what I mean: the cars need more top-end and full-boost power.

For example, at Monza, a track where engine power is just about everything, the pole time was 1:25.084, on full boost, and in 1987, the fastest race lap, on race boost and relatively low fuel (a.k.a. lap 49), was 1:26.796, and on race boost the engines would be developing some 900-950bhp on the fast blasts of the Italian track.

Anyway... here's hoping that this will lead to a quality mod. Can't wait to drive that Renault.:D

re: F1 1985
Something needs to be done about the tire pressure and toe-in values in another patch or in the full version. And the gearboxes should be offered as an option, in terms of the number of gears (look at the BT52 mod, for example; and some cars in 1985 had 5 gears, some had 6, depending on car and driver preference).

And the engines need more power. They've got the required torque, which generates the wheelspin, but they need more top-end power for more straight-line speed. Even on circuits like Adelaide, these cars would still easily top 200mph in real life. These things only have around 600-650bhp, and those power outputs were the norm for the turbos in 1982-83. From 1984 to 1986, the power surged up to the 1500bhp monsters.

And the sounds are from the 88 mod; I suggest you guys contact the man who made those sounds (Montesky, I believe) and ask him for help for the final sounds. If you can get hold of something like the Lap of the Gods DVD, it might help you for the final sounds.

Plus... about the Tyrrell, there were two completely different cars racing in 1985. The one currently in the mod is the 012; you might want to have a look at some 1986 races, because the 014 with the Renault turbo, that raced in '86, was introduced mid-way during '85.

re: F1 1985
You should possibly have a look at the Lap of the Gods DVD for better sounds for the cars. Not all of them are there, but the V6 turbo sound is needed in high quality for this.

And the demo cars are indeed rocketships. I even got wheelspin in 5th, which is quite an achievement... Power speaks for itself. Cars are rather nervous, and the default tire pressures are waaaaaaaaay too low, even lower than atmospheric pressure (it's 101.325 kPa, and the default pressures are 78 and 96)

re: TIAida
Really good track, has a rhythm to it, but my only worry is that there is very little grip. With amounts of throttle that would get me out of a normal corner on a normal track, I lose the rear end here and spin. What should be done?

re: F1 1988 carrera.4
carrera.4, you have made a lot of sim racers into very happy people with this mod. The cars are simply fabulous to drive, they can bite your head off if you're not careful with your arms, hands and feet, but if you keep them in check, they're a joy.

I especially loved driving the March. That's probably the best-handling car of the bunch.

re: F1 99 Season
Sorry... but my opinion is that you guys got the sounds completely wrong. Those sounds in the Ferrari video are good for a V12-engined car, but all the cars in the 1999 season used V10 engines. And also the brakes seem to be waaaaaaaay too strong; I mean... the car could go through the Roggia chicane after braking at the 50m board, which in real life is completely impossible.

Yeah, exactly... We might need a step-by-step release like the one that was done for F1C, otherwise when this mod is released, all the racing sim sites will crash in a matter of seconds.

re: F1 2007 MMG
divinu, you should look in the configuration of your steering wheel and look for a setting of "combined axis for both pedals" or something like that. Disable it and you'll be able to operate both the brakes and the throttle simultaneously.

re: F1 1988 carrera.4
Tweaked the setup in ways that some people mentioned here, slapped on a lot of camber, meddled with the diff setup, gave the car more rear wing, and now the only time I spin it is if I get over-ambitious with the throttle or I come into a corner badly, aka too fast or turn in too early or too late. When you realize how to set up and how to drive these cars, they're an absolute blast. Although the Honda engines are relatively brutal. (JYS tested a Lotus 100T back in '88 and that was exactly his opinion, the Honda V6 doing things all very suddenly and this caught me out several times)

But, overall, now I can also drive these cars. Had a blast around some of the '88 tracks, and finally managed to make a car go flat-out through Eau Rouge.

Congratulations carrera.4. You deserve every good word that has been said about this mod. Models are awesome, sounds are awesome, and once the set-ups are tweaked for each track, the sensation that these cars give is awesome. Overall, I could give this mod 10000000/5 if possible, but sadly, it's only up to 5.:P

re: DTM 2002 Turb
Two problems from my point of view:

1) The cars are damn hard to drive with all that understeer. And the front tires heat up as if the cars are FWD...

And the bad thing for me...
2) This mod is a framerate killer. Tried it on a random track and got about 30 FPS, and then switched to the CSGT mod and immediately got over 70. Are the models ultra-high poly?

re: F1 1988 carrera.4
Sounds are awesome when you're really hammering along. Cars feel very good, except under braking. Maybe it's just me not being quick enough with the blips on the downshifts... But overall, a very good mod. Maybe even better if I learned how to drive it. Any help from the "sim racing aliens" would be appropriate. Anyway, great mod.
