The only thing version 2.0 of this mod needs is better compatibility with RealFeel. It just doesn't work very well with RealFeel, even after I determined SteeringArmForce with MoTec telemetry data after testing on road courses and the Indy oval.
The mod lacks consistent "feel" and subtlety with RealFeel, even with accurate data. Drive the Toyota Atlantic or Formula BMW mod with properly set up RealFeel, and then drive this mod on the same circuit. The difference is noticeable immediately.
Mike, did you use the suspension data from iDT's Champ Car 2005-06 as a base for this mod? I ask because the Lola in that mod doesn't work well with RealFeel, either, even with accurate suspension force data.
Make sure the suspension for version 2.0 is built with CarFactory, and this mod will be KILLER!
Really appreciate all of your hard work, as always. |

Mike,
Didn't F1 Challenge (circa 2003? or even F1 2002) have an AI performance scheme where the Ferraris were excellent and the Arrows and Minardis were...well...Minardis? It's been so long since I played that game. That was really the last game I played before I found your mod info on the Indy 500 website and rFactor.
Don't know how their routines translate in machine language for rFactor. (Wasn't ISI involved in that?) I'm not a programmer or any such thing. I spend most of my days in AutoCAD.
Thanks,
Moose |

driver performance is for sure something i want to improve also, but it can be tough. if you know of a mod that has good AI talent performance, please let me know. Id love to see a good one, as I have yet to find one!
i just work on this stuff in my free time
1984 indy is just a fun little project ill do after this, and when i get the urge...its nothing imminent :)

Mike,
I agree with dradecki, this and Cart 1995 are the only things I'm playing now. One thing I would like to throw in for 2.0 would be more "real life" driver performance. I had a stretch of two races where Milk and Doughnuts and Mad Dog Marty won back to back races...yikes! Of course I don't want a Dixon to dominate everything, like he is this year. Sometimes its fun to have the moving chicanes like Duno and Roth to test your passing ability, though I'm sure the real drivers wouldn't agree.
Don't know where you find the time to work on this, 1984 Indy, and other things, but thanks much from this Open Wheel devotee.

About the only thing I can think of not on the list is a set of default RealFeel settings. Really looking forward to the 2.0 update.
Thanks again Mike |

We want to know!! What would you like to see in 2.0?
Please help us make version 2.0 the best it can be! We want to listen to all feedback from the community from the 1.x versions to make this right!
Some things on the list thus far include:

Where can I find information on optimal engine, tire, and brake temps for these cars? Anyone know off the top of their head? |

Thank you Mike, I am totally excited about this. Between the CART 1995 season and this I am enjoying the hell out of myself. |

I've really enjoyed this mod while following the season. I was curious if there is any work on the skins update, and also any word on the status of Motegi, or Kentucky?
Thanks in advance |

I too would like to ask someone to put up a good baseline road/street setup for this fantastic mod. In particular for the Edmonton track if possible. Many thanks in advance. |

TheFactory,
thanks for the info!
I will make that change, and also will be releasing a carpack along with it to bring everything up to date.
Many new cars have run like TK's blue car, Paul Tracy, several Marco cars, Townsend's various cars, Buddy's various cars, etc.
I hope to have that up by the weekend, if not much sooner. |

thanks for that TheFactory, now they dont run out of fuel.
now does anyone know how to make them not so retarded (ie. turning into me mid corner on an oval track)
also is it possible to have the spotter work on an oval track? |

When I tried to install the rF OWR2007S mod, rFactor opened to a blank screen with the menu music every time I started the sim afterward. I eventually gave up and did a complete reinstall of rFactor. How do I install this mod? |

Superb mod!
But there are some minor bugs too.
- the mirrors of the panoz are turned upside down
- the 2008 panoz got the wrong cockpit.ini -> easy to fix
- if you crash the car flames/smoke are in front of the car
Keep up the great work!
thx |

i read through the forums on indy racing for rfactor and it seems that most out there have gotten farther than myself with the install. i, to the best of my knowledge have done everything correctly as far as installs and upgrades. as far as i have gotten is ow2007 and 2008 series on select series screen. allthough the cars and teams folders are in place they do not show up in teams and vehicles screen. if someone can suggest what to do to correct or identify what i am doing wrong would be GREATLY appeciated. |

The fuel consumtion values in the 35LV8Indy_engine.ini for the 2008 class is wrong. That's why the AI runs out of fuel. It should be FuelEstimate=1.2500.
Also in the Team Penske vehicle directory are subdirectories which contain Conquest racing cars. That one gave me a quite a headache when I was trying to adjust the field to the current entry lists as I just couldn't get rid of Franck Perrera until I found that directory.
The rest of the mod is superb! Keep it up! |

But what a friend of mine and myself whould like to play is Indycar for sure..
I downloaded open wheel 1.25 and the rest of these mod things but ive i go into the game (my friend got this also)then i get Mesh errors ive i check the indy car drivers seasons 2007 and 2008, i cannot see the cars and helmets etc.
>error mesh files dallara< something like that, my question is can i find a patch or something for this huge problem haha..i checked the forums and there are more people with these problems but no one reply on these message's.
i'm from the Netherlands and i also road something about belgium scn patch but that one isn't working.
I hope someone can help me.
Keep up the great work! :)

First of all: Thanks for a GREAT Mod !!!
I figure that fuel consuption is wrong by a factor of 10.
While the HUD says that the gas lasts for 160 laps, the tvmenu (which actually calculates in realtime) says it lasts for 16 laps.
This difference by a factor of 10 is quite consistent.
I guess thats one of the problems why the AI cars are running out of fuel.
Please keep up the good work, and also bring us the Indy Lights class ;)
Thanks

Mike,
I hope that I didn't start a firestorm. The comments by AK are a little over the top. If you don't like the mod, you shouldn't use it.
I know I'm very appreciative, as I'm sure others are, of everything you've done. I can't do 1% of the things you've done to make this a reality.
I love Indy Cars and being able to drive them, even at just a test session is fantastic. I let my sons do some hot laps at Mid-Ohio before we go out there this weekend to get a feel of the entire track in the seat of a Dallara.
I was just assuming that it was something that I am doing wrong as a newbie with the tracks and vehicles and wanted to know if you and others were having this problem offline. Then we could all work together to find a solution. That's what a "Community" is, and should be, about.
Regards,
Moose |

This mod has really improved since it was first released. The only disappointing aspect is the lack of workable oval tracks. I have a lot of oval tracks such as Texas, Iowa, Milwaukee etc but the AI cars are incredibly slow. Indy was a blast, but again the AI are erratic, even on 0% aggression only 9 cars finished a 100 lap race.
No problem on road circuits though, they are fun to drive offline. |
