The whole document is wrong. Nearly every single fact is just false.
The only good advise is to set Negative-LOD to 'clamp' but those who really understand the meaning of this, will wobble looking at the rest. Sorry. |

Awesome, thanks a bunch!! No more crashes with the latest driver, which made me really happy. I must admit that I was close to insanity but the settings helped to fix my problems. Keep on the good work. Greetings from Germany from Thoho |

Thanks for getting back to me...You've been more than kind....Here's the latest, I've been speaking with the tech support department from OCZ and so far so good....I'm not a 100% sure but there seems to be an issue with some of the older 8800gtx models that were made with black pcb's....not all of them, but some...and both of mine happen to be black...Now here is another twist....I've tested both cards by themselves and each of them still lock up with the new drivers...same as the SLI, so that was not the culprit, but rather something with these cards and the new fast drivers....So, I'm going to let OCZ RMA the cards, and god forbid I should have the same problems with the new cards, I'm going to go get a new motherboard....The striker extreme has a buggy rep, but unless it is the culprit here, it has been a good soldier for me as far as I can tell.....Can you or anyone reading this suggest the best motherboard on the market to suite a pair 8800gtx in SLI...Money is no object...
Thanks again for your help |

Some reiterations:
- Having VSYNC on seems to cause me a lot of studdering I've noticed.
- 6X AA DOES NOT WORK STILL
I think I no longer have issues with my 8800GTS using 174 drivers with the following settings:
VSYNC = OFF (rFactor)
Anistropic filtering = 16X (rFactor)
AA = 5X (rFactor)
Texture filtering = High Quality (nHancer)
Negative LOD Bias - Clamp (nHancer)
Running 1920x1200 32bit with every GFX set to max & 15 cars, I never get below 50 fps. Beautiful game now. |

Sbs, thanks for the suggestion, but I've tried those, and yes performance rocks..But does the same to me as the other newer drivers....Also, with 174.74, I get nice boost in car like your saying, but in tv cam mode my frames drop to under 20 fps....I'm going nuts......Maybe RMA is the best thing for me...But Which card to RMA???? :( |

hello, my game is looking nice and sexy again thankyou. I was with ATi and then went back to nvidia and only now after alot of tweaking i find the nvidia card to be on par with the ATi for quality. I have a question though, when you say to drop the monitor back to default res 1280X1024 in my case i loose my widescreen res. I have a widescreen LCD and normally use 1280X720 shall i go back to this? |

Tks guys, really I appreciate it...
Zoomin, here are my specs man, and thanks a lot...
Asuse Striker Extreme
Processor=QX6700e
Ram = 2 x 1 gig corsair dominator 800 mhz
CoolerMaster 850w SLI cert PSU
Thermaltake Eureka Case, Lots of Fans, Good Air Cooling
2 x in SLI OCZ 8880GTX
Zoom, your other question about the chipset drivers, yeah, that is the main thrust of the issue, I am stable with Forceware 97.XX series of drivers....There is like 4 diff versions of them, but the newest set of drivers...anything after forceware 158.xx and above gives me screamin good performance, but gives me that weird lock where the game freezes on screen, and a lot of the times you can still hear the game going on in the backround...Sometimes it happens in 30 min, sometimes 30 hours. As I said, OCZ is looking to RMA one of the cards that seems to be a bit hot, but I fear I'll have the exact same issue with the new card, but who knows. I just don't think they really know what is going on, and Nvidia only seems to want to work on Vista and Crysis fixes.....I can always use the older drivers and they are decent, but as you can understand, once I've seen the performance boost I get with the newer drivers, It's hard to go back...Sorry to take so much room on here everyone, and I'm very appreciative of any help and time you can lend me...One more thing, I basically have all my mobo settings on auto if that helps..Any ideas or suggestions would be awesome...
Thanks Again...
Steve

If youre unable to find a fix to your problem Steve, I would go to the forums at guru3d.com as they have the most up to date drivers and help for Nvidia there.. Good Luck!! |

F1 dave yeah you should be able to adapt alot of it.I used to be ATI fan but not any more .I would use the Negitive LOD bias""" ClAMP ""mode and try ATI's AA, instead of ISI's AA.and if your running the Vsync and you have a Bad A@% ATI card turn the triple buffering on with Mip maps bilinear.. |

ZooMin,
Hello, I hate to do this to you , but I was hoping since you were kind enough to help out the community, that you might help a fellow racer who is having video troubles...I have 2 OCZ8800 GTX running in sli, with old drivers, forceware 97.xx, it works fine, but with any driver later than forceware 158.., my rfactor will lockup during game play...Sometimes it happens in 30 min, and sometimes it happens in 30 hours...My temps are cool, not rising above 60C for either card and it seems that these new drivers from Nvidia are making my SLI run great, with a nice boost, but they are unpredictable....Last time it locked, my screen froze in rFactor, but I could still hear the game running in the backround...?? If I hit the ESC button, I could here it putting me back into the race monitor..But the screen stayed frozen on track :( I could also hear the spotter, so the game was still running after the screen freeze.
I know you probably don't have the time, but do you have any suggestions...?OR Have you ever heard of this...?I'm not getting any specific errors, and I'm talking with OCZ support, but they are telling me to RMA one of my cards, only cause I think they are stumped........Since you seem very knowledgable, I thought I'd ask your opinion....
Thanks ...Steve.... |

all this talk about 30fps etc doesn't account for the fact that this is passive intake; you're not controlling it etc which is why TV looks smooth because you're not anticipating what should happen as you try to manouevre something. |

Yep i beleive so.I used to have a 7800 gt and i think all i had was 4x AA. Now you know you can go into the nVidia control panle and set it to whatever you want. Like suggested in the guide. |
