I was bored of rFactor, until i downloaded this mod. Absolutely stunning, a challenging and stressful ride, but what a thrill. This mod and Spa = HEAVEN :)

Please help me.I had format my c: and i have reinstalled the 1988 mod. But the sounds not the same. I had very good Judd engine sounds,but now my williams-judd sound is like the benetton's sound. How can i download that sound pack?

Nice mode I love it thou I’m curious about if anybody knows what driving helps do they use on the 88 F1 cars like did they had TC or ABS.......... and something about the mod I feel like the force-feed is little week, I don’t now maybe its suppose to be like that............. but once again great mode guys thank you

H-Schaltung and they do de-clutch everytime ;)
first sequential gearbox with wips at the weel was in 1989 in the ferraris
but you wont need a clutch i think because its working fine without without declutching everytime

thanks for this great MOD!
but i have a question about the shifting style.Which one is realistic for the cars.
1.shifting Paddles? I dont see paddels on the wheel.
2.Sequential?
3.H-Schaltung?
about the clutch....do the driver clutch anytime at shifting?
or only at the start of a race (chrashbox)?
i have a G25

The new sounds are available here:

I think they're the original Montesky sounds only not quite as loud. The new files were done by Michael Ode. Thanx to both of you for ALL these sounds.
To alter the sounds go to ProgramFiles/rFactor/GameData/Sounds/F1_1988. There you will see eight individual sound folders. Open each one up in turn and overwrite the old WAV files with the new WAV files. Make sure you only replace the old files. Don't delete any other files or you'll loose external sounds.
Please remember, ALWAYS, ALWAYS back up the original files in case you don't like the new ones!

great mod i love it i have a question if anyone knows the answer i have been watching people play on youtube and have noticed there are 2 different engine sounds on the cars my version and the one on youtube are different the engines sound much higher pitched and more realistic does anyone know where i can get these engine sounds

Great work! I really enjoy the cars and the tracks.
Is there any reason why this excellent mod isn't listed in the "series" tab as well? Given that Carrera.4 has created both the cars and the tracks, I think that an entry for F1 1988 as a series is well deserved.

hey excellent stuff on makin this mod by far the best!!
im using a logitech g25 steering wheel and i find when changing down gears the engine wants to stall. its probably wat they had back in 88 but is there a way i can fix it??

Great mod Carrera. Cannot stop driving it. Your tracks are great too. Can't wait for the full season track pack. Just a few comments. 1/ Some of the Ligier wheel rims are backwards. I tried correcting them but failed. 2/ When in cockpit view the nose of the Ligier is plain blue. The LOTO logo is missing. 3/ The Williams' mirrors seem to be distorted or are the wrong resolution.
Also, any chance of driver's legs being put into the cockpit? That would add so much more realism when in cockpit mode!
Hope u don't mind my little bit of constructive critisicim, but my favourite car is the Ligier. The sound of the Judd engine is fantastic!
Looking forward to more of your fantastic work!

Great mod, great cars, great memories, but there's something awfully wrong about the pace car rules. I was lapping 1st, then something in the middle happen I did not see and the pace car was out. I was driving just behind it and a warning message kept telling me I should be driving behind the 4th car behind me, which I ignored cause it was nonsense to drop 3 places just because the crazy computer told me to. Then the race resumed and I was suddenly penalized with a Stop & Go and 1 lap discounted. The mod is great, but that error is really a party killer and certainly clouds all the effort an time you clearly have put into this. Cheers.

only one thing missing, that the skins have volume, should go on file with the delimitation of the parts of the vehicle, so at least we could give him the volume.

fantastic job mate maybe a little increasing of helmets quality.
i also maded tests versus AI, wasn't so nice with it, too many crashes what happens? may i done settings wrong?

Just wanted to say... I downloaded this about an hour ago. All I've done is tried and failed to race an Osella at Monza, but I'm already in love with F1 1988! Thank you so much for what has definately been my most enjoyable introduction to a new mod.

Absolutly FANTASTIC mod!!!!!! Great Credit to Carrera 4, Does anyone know if carrera is doing any more mods or just working on the rest of the 88 tracks? Many Thanks again brightened up my life to no end!!!!!

Great Mod, the only gripes i have are the sounds and the oversensetive rear end going into corners, mostly low speed corners. But hey: have gone back to the 0.9 version sounds and can compensate for the sensetive rear. anyway is'nt that what racings all about, being able to drive and control the car you are given as well as racing competitors.
Other than the formentioned i am greatfull for the people that spend the time and effort in writing these mods and mostly give them to us for free. I will be donating for this mod.
Again great mod, keep up the good work and we all have to remember not everything is perfect.

Finally able to play this mod after 6e66o kindly linked me to a soundpack that didn't make my ears bleed. All I can say is WOW.
To think a single person has made this mod and several tracks is frankly astonishing. With a bit more polish this has the potential to be the finest mod for rFactor but it's up there already.
