yes i meant open wheel, and Bleddyn a wasnt talking about you or your comments, i drive open wheel and they are more fragile than you might think, a lot of people in the sim comunity dont know that, if you make a bad move or touch the zebras in a bad angle you will brake your suspension, even if its carbon fiber made, this damage model is the closest to the real thing

@FatPat5:

Thanks for jogging my memory! :) Absolutely correct about the Menards. However, in 1995 they ran Buick pushrod V6s instead of Ilmor/Mercedes pushrod V8s, and installed those into Lola chassis.

Personally I'd rather see the real deal modelled instead of one of the Menards painted to resemble a Penske just because it also was a "humpback". Moreover, the the "hump" on the Menards has it's own distinctive shape when compared to that of the 1994 Indy Penke's "hump".

I think by "formula" he was referring to open wheels.

@toniovodka: Nobody said anything about driving them like trucks for one, and they are NOT "Formula" cars, they are CART IndyCars. Big difference when it comes to how strong they are. Don't read into my comments and say I am not driving correctly, thank you.

i just have to say WWWOOOOOOOWWWWW

best mod i have ever played, damage is ok for me, it will teach some guys not to drive a formula car like a truck, still some minor bugs like mirrors and menards cars, but at least top 5 in hall of fame for me

Is there anyway to not have the JNSMichigan08 track not start like the 96 US 500 (without needing a completely new AIW)?

I have played almost nothing but this mod since release and I love it. One thing I would like to suggest since I know the iDT guys read the comments.. I think maybe the suspensions are a little bit too fragile. Now I don't expect to go sliding into walls and take no damage, don't get me wrong but even the slightest touch will give you a little damage. Unlike F1 cars, the 90's IndyCars were mostly driven on tracks with walls (street/temporary circuits and ovals account for 13 of 17 races in 95) and were designed with a more robust suspension because of it.

How many times did you see a little wiggle from a car exiting a corner and the rear bumps the wall in this era, or even better a nice bump coming out of a turn on an oval and the big flash of the magnesium wheels but no ill effect to the car. I am not asking for alot more strength, but just these minor bumps not to cause damage.

I don't intend to argue the point here, just making my suggestion which iDT can take or leave as they choose.

megahurtz, that is a part of the new great simulation of iDT.
That is called g-force/centrifugal force.
Did you ever drive in a real car? Did you accellerate? Did you breake? If yes, your sure recognized that there are g-forces, which throw your head forward, when breaking, and backwards when accellerating.
That´s all: iDT did a simulation of the G-Forces/centrifugal forces

So nothing is wrong! ;-)

Greeting

For the short ovals (Nazareth, Milwaukee, NH, Phoenix) I have been using JNS Tracks. I don't think they are on rFC so I won't link in case they are not allowed here. I haven't found a Michigan I am happy with yet.

@Treetop64: Actually, the Team Menard cars in the 1995 mod seem to be built to the '94 Penske Indy car, with the powerful engine and the bulky backside. They can reach 250mph at indy in boost mode (setting 2). Someone (maybe IDT in the next release) should paint the cars in the Penske colours and include them in the '94 mod.

I'm having a slight problem with the AI. By the end of the first lap on any road course, half of the cars have already smacked something. I look at the replays and they are driving far too fast into the corners, obviously resulting in a crash. Is there any way to remedy this? It happens with all the car sets I have but it's particularly bad with this mod because the cars are so dang fast. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

This is just a question for the community in general...

I can't seem to get the tires to last on ovals. I am no setup guru but I know what it takes to setup a car to go fast around oval tracks. The right front tire seems to overheat super quickly, to temperatures well in excess of 300* Fahrenheit. Am I merely driving too aggressively or are there other people who have experienced this and know how to fix it.

Perhaps you forgot to or didn´t want to copy the UI Data files?
If you did so without editing the rfm-file, rFactor hangs up at startup.

Greetings, Schwede

I have been sent to the desktop each and every time I attempt to go into this mod, and not with any other. I continue to get the rfactor has encountered a problem and needs to close. I am sad because so may seem to like this mod alot. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. However, I went to my brother's to race and I think it is a nice mod but F1 still rules the open wheeler by plenty. These cars feel a bit heavy most of the time to me, yet fly off the ground topping the straight to the corkscrew. Nonetheless, I am still wondering why I am getting KTTD.....

So where is the best place to post some feedback for idt?

Having played this a lot I have some feedback for a future patch I hope we will get :)

The cars seem to get stuck on curbs far to easily. I regularly find myself stranded on a raised curb, wheels spinning and going no where fast.

The cars seem a little too sensitive to bumps and riding the curbs, seems to unsettle them a lot just riding up them a little on the apex of a corner.

In fact cars seem to have a tendancy to spin out at the slightest upset. You have to be very smooth and careful where you place the car in my experience, Which is far enough, driving smooth is part of racing, but the cars seem to be on a bit of a knife edge when driving more aggressively.

All in all though it's a great mod, awesome models and detail, and great immersion. I recently downloaded all the races of the '95 season and this mod captures it pretty well.

I've been playing Rfactor since the day it was released and have enjoyed many different mods in the last few years, yet i have rarely commented here on rfactorcentral. So, Enjoy:

This, my friends, sets an entirely new standard in my opinion, attention to detail is fantastic. Without doubt, the most challenging yet rewarding mods (deserves to be its own game if im honest!!!) I have had the privilege to play.

You should be VERY proud of yourselves.

@ Those with comments about the lack of speed of the Penskes at Indianapolis:

In 1994 the Penskes took advantage of a loophole in the USAC regulations regarding the use of pushrod engines (i.e. non-overhead cam engines) at Indy. Basically what Penske did is develop, in complete secrecy, a very powerful Ilmor designed pushrod V8 for use only at Indy. It was a larger, taller, and heavier unit than the conventional overhead cam engines used during the season, and required a modification to the rear half of the Penske cars, making them bulkier from the rollbar back. Due to their increased weight and bulk, the Penskes were not as fast in the turns as the other cars in the field, however, they were significantly faster under acceleration out of the turns and in outright top speed at the end of the straights. As a result, the Penskes dominated the 1994 Indy 500 in terms of speed...but - Emmo crashed out late in the race, don't remember how Paul Tracy did, and Al Jr. won with ease.

As far as I can see, those particular Penskes are not modelled in this mod. You get the "standard" Penskes at Indy in '94.

USAC got wise and closed the loophole in time for the 1995 Indy race and, as a result, the Penske cars blended in with everyone else in terms of performance.

At any rate, anyone reading this should not let that deter themselves from downloading this fantastic mod. Excepting the "Indy Penske" and identical AI performance issues (both of which are fixable, BTW), this is simply one of the best mods on rFactor available, and deserved it's extremely rapid ascention to Hall of Fame status.

I'm blown away by your great mod. I live in Indiana and have been to every Indy 500 since 1988. You have done an excellent job in representing the sound and feel of the cars. Thanks for the great work, I've been waiting for a good indy game for what seems an eternity. EXCELLENT!!!!!

Great mod , but it seems to cause a clash with the rf indy car mod where you can't choose the 2007 indycars you get the 1994 cart cars.Has anyone else noticed this?

To Junger_Schwede: Yeah I am using much less wings cos for my driving style the tires are making enough grip! The Qualy setup is for 2 hotlaps and Your 2nd hotlap can be the best one cos the tires got warmed up at the end of first hotlap! With this setup I did 1:06.7 at the Qualy and 1:07.3 at the race! Yeah I thought about too that maybe the last gear at the Qualy setup is too short but You can fix it if You wanna by adding one more click to it (I did the same:) but I did this 1:06.7 with this short last gear:))!

Anyway if You wanna be really fast at Mid Ohio You have to be very smooth, especially at the second sector and use bravely the street repairs but be careful at the exit cos You can spin very easily!

Today I will upload my pack here I hope many of You are already tried out! Feel free to ask or post any feedback! I will help if I can!:)

Cheers

Szabi

Anybody else noticed a weird car behavior when stuck, or trying to get out of a sand trap?

To those commenting about 1994. As I understand it from the readme these cars were just added because they had the lola (i think) model. But as this is a 1995 mod the 1994 cars may not be accurate. There is not even a full field, only those teams that run lola.

I have been waiting so long for this, and it is just stunning. The detail, and the physics rock! I do have to agree though that the cars could do with more power. The 1994 Penske Indy 500 car should be able to reach around 240mph at Indy, but I can barely get over 230.

Hello

short question:
When I push the boost button, the engine is limited in RPMs, not boosted. What´s the fault?
